Artist Bio- Angela Cyr
I am an independent visual artist and my drive to create is one of my greatest passions in life. I completed the Bachelor Of Fine Arts Program (BFA) through UBCO in June 2015. I have my own art studio that I have been creating works of art in during all of my art studies and in the current now.
If I were to put my art works in general into a category it would be that I am a Visionary Artist. My art is mostly derived from my visions, passions, dreams and when I am in a meditative state of mind. My artistic creations are most often self portraits in one way or another and I love to work with a lot of layers. I like to make a series of art works and always have several series on the go in various styles or mediums. I do not have a favorite medium of choice as a lot of my works are mixed media but painting and drawing is my consistent artistic drive.
I have never ending artistic ideas and I wake up in the morning beyond excited to create. I am blessed to have a home based massage business so I can make art in my studio at my own leisure. I spend more hours weekly in my art studio than I do in my massage studio. I start most of my days waking up between 3-4:00am which is my most favorite time frame of day to zone in and create. Atmosphere plays a huge role in my artistic practice because I prefer to be in a meditative state with no distractions and to have a clear mind.
I am deeply fascinated with energy, dimensions and spiritual realms which is a common theme I like to play with. I often let the universe come up with the context which comes to me while I start by playing with color, texture and shapes. My vision actually becomes distorted and it is like looking through a different lens. When I am working on a project I am usually in a complete meditative state where time and racing thoughts do not exist. Making art is not only a great passion for me but also an outlet for self expression and a doorway to what's inside or to the unknown.
My art works are primarily original pieces and I usually do not create with the intentions of selling. My art expressions are my internal journal and I mostly just want to share my journey and visions with the world. I have just recently started to branch out to sell my works online and through social media for the process of letting go of the old and welcoming the new.
